On October 28, 2019 Rudy, Fatima and Saga took off to Sulawesi. In the next couple of months Rudy will be staying at the farmer community of our project pioneers: Mr. Amir and Mrs. Fatimah to kick-start the third phase of the Organic Cocoa Project La Galigo. Through this blog we would like to keep our volunteers, project partners, sponsors and all the other people who made our project come to life up-to-date about the progress of the project. Welcome to Rudy's Reads!
Fighting for funds!
In the past few months La Galigo Foundation and her volunteers have been busy collecting funds through a wide variety of activities. In the Beurs van Berlage the Foundation stood amongst our peers in the cocoa industry at cocoa festival Chocoa. Members of the board also joined several Iftars and Sustainable Food Events throughout the Netherlands.
To crown it all the Foundation also organized her very first fundraising event: Garden Gathering La Galigo. Working closely with Proeftuin de Luwte, Cacaolab and Anna's Tuin en Ruigte we enjoyed a wonderful end-of-summer afternoon with the La Galigo community and launched a crowdfunding campaign that is still up and running today!
The hard work has paid off! With enough financial means we are finally able to kick-start the third phase of the project. And it is an exciting one, too!
During the third phase of the Organic Cocoa Project the model garden will be redesigned into an agroforest. The goal is to utilize the model garden as a training site for farmers in the community. In order to achieve this, the Foundation set the following goals for this projec trip:
